Essential Functions:

 

The Senior Associate for Fisheries and Marine Science reports to the Director for Science and Marine Governance and will be responsible for:

  • Conduct fisheries and ecological data analysis in collaboration with program implementation team and Fish Forever global team
  • Provide fisheries and ecological training and supporting tools for site implementation teams and partners
  • Manage and deliver science-specific aspects of program including Managed Access and Reserves (MA+R) design, Coastal Fisheries Resource Management (CFRM) planning in sites, and Harvest Control Measures
  • Act as key resource person for fisheries science for various partners to implement the Fish Forever scale strategy

Other tasks may be assigned.

 

 

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science (expertise in population dynamics preferred) or Marine Biology
  • Proven experience in analyzing and presenting results on small scale fisheries data (preferaby using R)
  • Experience in marine spatial planning and governance preferred
  • Proven ability in training and capacity building
  • Experience working with small-scale fishing communities and stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel for up to 70% of the time.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to effectively engage with staff and partners at all levels in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and competing deadlines to ensure accuracy and high-quality standards while applying a system’s view of outcomes and impact.
  • Prior experience in an international, cross-cultural work environment is essential, and willingness to work on flexible hours (even beyond the regular working hours) as needed.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
