Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Global Climate Change Policy is a collaborative and dynamic role responsible for leading Rare’s global policy and partnership priorities in the development and implementation of policy goals and financial commitments related to climate change. The Sr. Manager will report to the Sr. Director, Global Development and will collaborate on a day-to-day basis with Global Development team members working on policy, partnerships, and public fundraising. The Sr. Manager will also work closely with Rare’s global network of Policy, Development, and Communications staff to lead strategic initiatives that build and connect political and financial commitments in support of Rare’s climate change solutions and the Global Development strategy.
The Senior Manager will be well-versed in global climate policy and be experienced in matters relevant to the role an NGO can play in leveraging scale and public funding, including the engagement of strategic partners that will help build government and international support for community-driven solutions to climate change. They will work with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external, to engage governments and partners in successful policy and funding initiatives and represent Rare in international forums. The Sr. Manager will provide advice on, and lead, strategies that support climate policy & governance with a focus on key initiatives such as nature-based solutions, regenerative agriculture, and climate adaptation.
In order to thrive in this position, you must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization and enjoy leading strategy and teams to accomplish the following key objectives: 1) lead strategy development and manage work plans that will secure government support for Rare’s global programs and community-led solutions in Rare geographies 2) build and manage key internal and external relationships, and 3) lead and manage strategies for priority policy and related public donor engagement and events, with a particular focus on climate change.
