The Finance & Operations Manager will join Rare Germany to lead the financial management of Rare Germany, incl. the financial and operational management of the newly launched project “Pride on our Plates”.
The project is supported by the European Union through the SWITCH-ASIA program. In collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the Wuhan Hezhong Agriculture Development Corporation (WHAD) and the One Planet Foundation (OPF) and Rare Germany, this project aims to empower Small and Medium- sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in China to respond to the challenge of food waste in China. The objective of the project is to strengthen China’s MSMEs through proven food waste solutions and behavioral insights to catalyze the prevention, reduction, and diversion of food waste in China's hospitality sector. We are excited to have a Finance and Operations Manager with experience in European Commission financial management including finance and operations as part of the global project core team. In addition, this position will be connected to overall mange Rare Germany’s financial and operations. Rare Germany is a newly establish entity with a growing team. Rare Germany gGmbH works strategically closely with its partner & shareholder, Rare Inc., and pursues the same mission. The international non-governmental organization Rare Inc. and the Rare Germany advocate sustainable use of resources, climate, environmental and biodiversity protection worldwide. He or She will report to Rare’s Executive Director, of Rare Germany.
The Finance and Operations Manager will work closely all key project partners and in particularly with the staff of Rare’s partner institutions, the Center for Behavior and the Environment (BE.Center, US) and the Wuhan Hezhong Agriculture Development Corporation (WHAD, China) as well as Rare overall global operations and finance team (based in the US). Although the position is based in Berlin (Germany), the day-to-day work will involve close contact with global staff and partners, especially with program staff based in China and in the US.
