  • Position Overview

    The Meloy Fund is an impact investment fund that provides private debt and equity capital into scalable enterprises that can play a key role in incentivizing sustainably managed coastal fisheries in Indonesia and the Philippines.  Each investment contributes to the triple bottom line results of financial returns to investors, improved livelihoods for local fishing communities, and increased health of the world’s most important marine ecosystems.  The Meloy Fund is the first impact investment fund focused entirely on improving coastal ecosystems.

     

    Reporting to the Principal and country lead, the key responsibilities and deliverables of the

    Analyst/Associate will include:

    • Conduct research into new investment opportunities in the industry;
    • Data analysis and financial modelling
    • Support the Principal in all aspects of the business which include but not limited to deal structuring, due diligence and documentation of investment opportunities
    • Support the Principal in preparation of investment recommendation
    • Support the Principal in all aspects of portfolio management
    • Support pre and post investment environmental, social and governance review and analysis
    • Support impact measurement and reporting

    Position Overview 

    The ideal candidate will be dynamic, entrepreneurial, and high-energy, with the ability to work productively with CEOs, CFOs as well as local, in-country community leaders.  S/he will be creative, analytical and organized, a strong communicator with impeccable writing skills. Demonstrated success in managing a variety of high-impact initiatives from concept through completion with explicit outcomes and strong project management skills are prerequisites for success in this role.  A strong appreciation of financial data and competency in key financial analytics is a must.

     

    Other qualifications include:

    • Tertiary education, preferably in finance, accounting, economics or agriculture or marine related faculty
    • Minimum 2 years professional experience in SME lending, auditing or finance and operations in related businesses
    • Knowledge of current environmental and sustainability issues, SME development, supply chains, micro-finance and investment products, as well as experience in the developing world will be advantageous
    • Strong verbal and writing communication skills
    • Team player, keen interest to operate, and communicate effectively incross-cultural environment;
    • Ability to work in a challenging and dynamic entrepreneurial context; agility to respond to emerging business opportunities;
    • Ability to travel nationally and internationally;
    • A genuine interest to develop a long term career in impact investment
    • Prior experience in an international, cross-cultural work environment is essential with willingness to work flexible hours on an as-needed basis to serve the needs of a global organization with diverse time zones;
    • BS/BA required; MBA or relevant Master’s degree preferred; and
    • English and Filipino language skills for eg, Visayan is required.
