    Rare is seeking candidates for our 2018 Summer Internship Program. Our Summer Internship Program takes place at Rare’s headquarters, located in Arlington, VA. Rare has a variety of conservation focused teams: Global Solutions, Talent, Executive Office, New Programs & Sustainable Markets, Accounting & Finance, Information Technology, and Development & Communications.     Please note, due to the volume of applications and limited availability of positions, you may be placed on a team which differs from the team you have expressed the most interest in.

    As a Rare intern, you will gain working knowledge and valuable insight into the nonprofit, conservation and development space.  

    Rare’s 8-week internship program will begin June 11th and end on August 3rd. Rare pays an hourly salary to all interns.


    Summer Internship Overview:

    Rare seeks enthusiastic, organized and self-motivated college students and recent graduates to join our summer internship program.  Candidates must be undergraduate or graduate students with strengths in project management, writing and research. 


    Interns will gain valuable insight into the non-profit, conservation and development space.  The ideal candidates will be well-organized, able to work independently and as a collaborative team member and have strong communication skills.


    Core projects and responsibilities may include:



    Writing/Content development

    Web support

    Operations Support

    Special projects



    • Must possess or be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree
    • Dynamic personality ready to plug-in where needed
    • Well organized, self-motivated, and able to manage deadlines independently
    • Excellent understanding of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Eager and quick to learn new systems and software
    • Strong preference given to candidates with prior editing and writing experience
    • Strong preference given to candidates with demonstrated research experience
    • Superb attention to detail and proven ability to execute highly specific tasks
    • Interest in conservation/environmental issues through coursework, work experience, or extracurricular activity
    • Native or near-native written and spoken English language skills
